June’s Most Anticipated 4K Releases

My 4K UHD Collection is getting bigger as time goes by because more films are adapting to the format. I usually say “it continues to be an amazing time for film,” but as time carries on things are beginning to change. Theaters are shut down and the majority of the United States (including myself) are locked inside for safety.

The sad thing is, at least when it comes to physical media, is that the virus has finally caught up to home video releases. For the month of June (excluding remasters) we have ZERO new releases in UHD, yes zero. How crazy is that? I never thought I would see something like this.

Here’s what you can set your eyes on this month. The Hunt lands on Blu-ray June 9th and on June 16th new 4K UHD steelbooks release for Gladiator and Braveheart. Are you a fan of horror movies? Good news, the 40th Anniversary steelbook for Friday the 13th releases on June 16th too! Other than that, continuing with the Paramount Presents lineup, Pretty in Pink lands on June 16th and Airplane! on June 30th.

I hope everyone is staying safe! I guess one good thing we can look forward to is watching Jaws in brand new crispy 4K UHD… I can’t wait!

Jaws (June 2, 2020)

When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.
