“Dreamworks best animation all packed into one!”

Review:

What’s the first company that comes to mind when it comes to animation? Pixar… right? Even though Pixar may be the cream of the crop, Dreamworks has successfully kept itself in the conversation for decades now — I would easily put them in the Top 3 today. With massive success of series that include Shrek, Trolls and How To Train Your Dragon (just to name a few) it’s impossible not to recognize the amazing work this studio puts out time and time again.

What do I think their best work is? How To Train Your Dragon, hands down. That trilogy is one of the best animated trilogies ever made, it can stand toe to toe with any of Pixar’s legendary releases — it’s that good. The HTTYD series has succeeded in telling a great story throughout all three movies. It’s a gem of a franchise that will stand the test of time — generations of children and adults will enjoy these films into the distant future. I’m shocked that all three weren’t included in this collection.

I think the best way to go about reviewing these movies is ranking them from best to worst. At the top of this ten-piece collection is How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Abominable, Trolls and Kung Fu Panda — while the bottom see’s Home and The Boss Baby. Naturally, the films that fall in the middle for me are Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Madagascar and The Croods. The low’s in this collection don’t fall as far as let’s say, the Blumhouse Collection, but never-the-less, you can confirm from me that this is a rock solid compilation.

At the very least, Dreamworks has successfully cooked up some great characters with expanding franchises that keep the whole family entertained for generations to come.

Packaging wise, this release is housed in a standard 10-disc case with each disc getting its own tray — that means no discs are being stacked! Even better, the casing fits like a book on bookshelf, perfect for collectors. I hate it when collections get cheap packaging — this isn’t anything amazing — but it’s sturdy for the long-haul.

Taking everything I’ve said into account, you can be sure that the Dreamworks 10-Movie Collection gets my recommendation to own — if you fit the criteria. How many of these films do you already own? If you just have a few then this should warrant a must-own pickup for any family, especially when this pops up on sale in the near future. Since this release fits all ages and families, this will be the perfect stocking stuffer for the holiday season! No matter what you decide to do, you can head out and grab a copy at your local retailer today.

Are you a fan of these films or Dreamworks in general? Will you be picking it up to own? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Cheers,

Matt.
